Salvatore Adamo,
singer-songwriter known worldwide, was born on 1 November 1943 to
Cosimo (Italy). Her family came to settle in Belgium in 1947 and his
father worked in mining of coal. He grew up and lived in Jemappes much
of his life, and currently lives in Uccle. He was
made honorary citizen of Jemappes in 1966, and knighted by
King Albert 2 in 2001.

Pirette Francois,
whose real name is
Thierry Van Cauberg, was born February 7, 1963. He grew up listening to
the sounds of bells of trams, drums of Gilles. He studied at the
Institut St Ferdinand Jemappes. At 19 Thierry gets a job as
receptionist at RTBF (belgium television). Some months later, by a lot
of chance, it is powered on national airwaves of the radio where he had
his emission. After 10 years of radio, François
Pirette becomes by the force of waves and the hoax call, it
was
shown on stage, television and became, according to the success of one
of the most popular entertainers of Belgium.
